Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans?
My first week home from New Orleans and I am missing it...usually I am glad to get home, but New Orleans can be so addicting! I miss walking outside and being on St. Charles Street, walking ten minutes and being in the French Quarter. I miss the river rolling along and all the tugboats pushing the barges. I miss hearing music in the streets and smelling all the smells. I miss getting crawfish tails whenever I want! ....sigh

I do !! There is no place like New Orleans. It's kind of like going back into the past. I miss Galveston too. Just go to the dock and buy fresh shrimp. Go to the Flying Dutchman on the Kemah boardwalk and have wonderful stuffed crab, crab fingers, crab cakes......yummy yummy.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand - lived there for three months in 1977 when Woody had a club at the Hyatt ... the river created an attitude/pace that i always felt influenced the music...
ReplyDeleteIs St Charles as beautiful as ever ?? esp in the spring. and the smell of the fresh beignets & chicory at the French Market near Jackson Square..
LET'S GO !!!
Yes, it's the same...that's the beauty of New Orleans, they don't tear anything down and the people are so grateful to have everyone visit the city. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful, beignets are as great as ever. Stopped in to WWOZ and met the Neville family on their way out. Standing at the bar at the Hilton and Alan Toussaint walked by...can't beat it.
